If you receive a notice from the IRS stating that you owe back taxes or penalties, never ignore the notice just because you think (or even know) that the IRS has made a mistake. Instead, contact our office immediately. Even if the notice is incorrect, ignoring it, at the very least, could result in penalties being erroneously assessed and, at the worst, could result in liens being slapped on bank accounts or other assets. Either way, ignoring the IRS will just delay resolving the issue and make it another time-consuming headache, instead of an error that could be quickly resolved.
